ABOUT DALMATIA
Dalmatia: A Climber's Paradise
Dalmatian coast
Dalmatia is one of the most spectacular regions of the Croatian Adriatic, stretching along a rugged coastline between the sea, limestone mountains and a landscape shaped by centuries of Mediterranean life. Its character comes from the remarkable contrast between the deep blue Adriatic, dramatic karst cliffs, mountain ranges, and a chain of islands and islets scattered along the coast.

Island Information
Our climbing trip takes us to three remarkable areas –Paklenica, Čikola and Karin – each offering a different experience of Croatian limestone and its diverse climbing terrain.
Plan Your Climbing Adventure
Paklenica National Park is one of Croatia’s most famous climbing destinations, situated where the dramatic Velebit mountains meet the Adriatic Sea. The impressive Velika Paklenica canyon is home to hundreds of climbing routes, ranging from easy single-pitch routes to demanding multi-pitch climbs. The limestone walls rise steeply above the canyon, creating an extraordinary setting for both sport climbing and longer adventures.
Čikola Canyon offers a completely different atmosphere. The canyon cuts deeply through the Dalmatian landscape, surrounded by rugged limestone cliffs and wild Mediterranean vegetation. Its sheltered sectors can provide excellent conditions during the cooler months, making December a great time to explore the area.
Karin, close to the Adriatic coast and the Karinsko more, is another excellent winter option. The climbing area lies above the canyon of the Bijela River and features predominantly steep and overhanging limestone routes. Its orientation and lower elevation make it particularly attractive from autumn through spring.
