Anja's Story

This is my personal journey through battling endometriosis and finding relief through alternative methods, particularly the Medical Medium protocols. Despite struggling with severe pain and ineffective conventional treatments, I experienced a drastic improvement in my life after adopting a plant-based diet and following Medical Medium recommendations. The newfound vitality allowed me to excel in climbing, realizing the profound impact of nutrition on both physical and mental well-being. Encouraged by my transformation, I now aim to share my experience and knowledge through a climbing coaching program called "CLIMB TO HEAL," which emphasizes the connection between diet, health, and climbing performance. The program will take place in Leonidio, Greece, offering participants guidance on improving their climbing and overall health through a holistic approach.

Daily program overwiev

Welcome to the comprehensive week-long program! Let me walk you through the schedule:

Upon arrival, settle into a comfortable apartment where I'll be readily available. The program is designed to be special, starting with lessons on preparing healthy meals and snacks.

Each morning, we kick-start the day with a revitalizing routine: drinking half a liter of lemon-infused water, followed by at least half a liter of fresh celery juice after a 20-minute wait. Then, we'll enjoy a nutritious breakfast, typically fruit-based with gluten-free oats or alternatives, occasionally complemented by fruit smoothies.

The day's activities involve invigorating yoga, meditation, and climbing sessions. During climbing sessions, we'll have wholesome snacks like fruits and raw vegetables. As part of this special week, you'll also learn about cleansing techniques.

We can dine out or prepare a delectable and healthy meal together for dinner. Throughout the week, I'll teach you how to create plant-based dishes. If you have a preference for meat or fish, that's entirely fine, too. I'll conduct a workshop on dietary choices, allowing you to decide how you'd like to eat going forward.

Activities

Each day brings a variety of engaging activities:

  • Climbing sessions focus on improving endurance, technique, and mental fortitude with theoretical and practical components.
  • Yoga classes led by an experienced instructor are scheduled twice weekly.
  • Evenings are reserved for dancing, providing a space for free expression.
  • Workshops cover topics such as nutrition and mental training for climbing, supplemented with relevant materials.
  • Meditation sessions, both in nature and indoors, offer moments of tranquility. Sometimes, they incorporate fruit-picking as a meditative activity.
  • A massage class will be held to learn basic techniques for post-climbing relaxation.
  • Painting sessions serve as another form of meditative expression.

Join us for a transformative journey towards improved climbing performance and holistic well-being.

Dolomites, Italy

ABOUT DOLOMITES

The Dolomites Alps

Welcome to a holiday region with natural beauty and diversity. The Dolomites offer stunning views of the mountains and valley. This place attracts visitors with its beauty and sporting activities.

The Dolomites are a mountain range or the Dolomite Alps in north-eastern Italy. The highest peak is the Marmolada, at 3,343 meters above sea level. The area is almost 16,000 m2. The Dolomites were also declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009. The mountain range is in the Veneto, Trentiono-AltoAidigie-Sudtirol, and Friuli-Venezia Giulia regions. It covers the area between the provinces of Belluno, Vicenza, Verona, Trentino, South Tyrol, Udine, and Pordenone.

The Dolomites are on the list of must-visits in the world. You can visit the Dolomites at any time of the year. Most people visit in summer or winter. Families can enjoy the Dolomites all year round, where we can do endless sporting activities. It is wonderful for families with children to spend their holidays there.

Rock Climbing style in the Dolomites

Climbing in the Dolomites is varied and offers different styles, and there are many routes for everyone to try in a mountain atmosphere. The Dolomite limestone is special; it mostly climbs on large and small pockets with good friction. The Dolomites are also a great destination for families with small children. You can go on easy hikes to the higher peaks reachable with cable cars and valleys, enjoy the beautiful parks, rent a bike, or visit the world-class children's playgrounds.

Beautiful landscapes and endless rocks for climbing and peaks for hiking make for the best summer holiday of a lifetime. What more could you want?

Are you ready to explore and climb in the Dolomites?

Season for rock climbing

The Dolomites offer a diverse range of crags and climbing styles. You'll mostly enjoy pockety routes on solid  Dolomite-limestone. Visiting and rock climbing at higher altitudes is best done in summer, in July and August, when temperatures are at their highest. The mountains are refreshing, and some crags are at altitudes above 2500 meters. You should always check the weather forecast for climbing at higher altitudes. Temperatures range between 10 and 20 degrees.

Some southern crags and high-altitude lovers can be visited in autumn and spring, making the Dolomites a great destination at any time of the year.

PROGRAM

Day 1: Arrive in the Dolomites, settle in, and start enjoying your climbing holidays. Discuss your goals for the coaching week and the future.

Day 2: Having an easy start with lots of easy routes for warming up the body and getting used to the rock. Checking the safety knots and proper belaying.

Day 3: Climbing vertical routes. Concentrating more on on-sight climbing technique and mental training—discuss how to approach on-sight, visualization, preparation, analysis, learning where to clip, resting exercise, commitment, and reading the route.

Day 4: Climbing hard routesYou will learn how to climb more challenging routes with the redpoint approach step by step. You will know how to do visualization for the redpoint, which is part of mental coaching. The red point is not only climbing but also falling coachingIt is part of the game and learning process for gaining better performance in the working route, even when we are pumped to get that 100% out of our bodies.

Day 5: Rest day is part of training, so we might take one as well. It is not necessary to have a complete rest day; we might still do some running and yoga in the morning and swimming or easy climbing in the afternoon. It also depends on the group and their needs and wishes. One of the rest day activities is climbing without hands or using fewer hands, such as toprope. These skills are excellent for learning efficiency, improving climbing techniques for more challenging routes, and having fun.

Day 6: Climbing days for on-sight attempt with repetition if necessary. You will try to put the mental knowledge into the climbing and try hard.

Day 7: We will return to your redpoint project to test your head and power. You are learning how to mentally prepare for sending the projects and the proper mindset for this day. Not only is sending a reward, but the process should be the goal that motivates us.

Day 8: The final day or more relaxed day for you will be climbing without pressure from us. You choose whatever you wish that day to climb. You must enjoy and try to climb as much as your head and muscles let you. We can repeat your projects, foot and hand technique, mental coaching, falling practice, or hang out in climbing crags and have fun with no stress.

Kyparissi, Greece

ABOUT KYPARISSI

Why Kyparissi?

What sets Kyparissi apart is its combination of top-tier rock quality, diverse climbing styles, and idyllic surroundings. The climbing sectors are spread across a compact area, with many routes just a stone’s throw from the crystal-clear sea—ideal for cooling off after a day on the rock. You’ll find sectors suited to all skill levels, making it a welcoming destination for both seasoned climbers and families seeking adventure.

Climbing Highlights in Kyparissi

Climbing sectors

  • Babala Wall: Situated 700 meters above sea level, Babala is an awe-inspiring cliff featuring some of the most spectacular tufas in the world. This sector is a haven for advanced climbers, offering challenging long routes with incredible views. The scenic hike to the wall, winding through the serene village of Babala, adds to the adventure. Babala is also an excellent spot for climbing courses, especially for learning tufa techniques.
  • Watermill Sector: Known as one of the best climbing areas in the Peloponnese, Watermill offers easy access and routes that cater to various styles. From technical climbing on grey vertical walls to tackling orange overhangs with tufas, this sector has something for everyone.
  • Family-Friendly Sectors: Sectors like Kastraki, Vlychada, and Playground are perfect for families and beginners. These areas are well-protected, ensuring a safe and enjoyable climbing experience for all.

Season and Conditions

The best time to climb in Kyparissi is during spring and autumn when the weather is cooler, and the conditions are ideal. Most sectors face east, providing shade in the afternoon. For summer climbing, the elevated sectors like Babala, Jerome’s House, and Psilovrachos offer pleasant breezy conditions. In winter, however, Kyparissi sees frequent rain, so Leonidio might be a better alternative during that season.

A Growing Climbing Destination

Kyparissi has evolved significantly since climbers first bolted routes here 15 years ago. The 2015 climbing festival marked the beginning of its resurgence as a premier climbing destination. Development continues, with new routes and sectors being added regularly. In 2021, the "Woaw Cave" was established, featuring three stunning tufa routes—a fantastic alternative for rainy days when Babala is inaccessible.

Beyond Climbing

Beyond the crags, Kyparissi offers a serene escape with its unspoiled natural beauty and clear blue sea. Relax by the beach, explore hiking trails, or simply soak in the tranquil atmosphere. Whether you’re climbing, swimming, or enjoying time with loved ones, Kyparissi promises an unforgettable experience.
